John Atwell

Chief Operating Officer & Director of Development

John C. Atwell joined Dermody Properties/DP Partners in November of 2007 as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Development.  He is responsible for the company's day-to-day leasing, marketing, and development activities for corporate Build-to-Suit projects and Dermody Properties/DP Partners' brand-name business parks nationwide. Those parks include LogistiCourt at Lincoln in Las Vegas; LogistiCourt at Silver Lake in the Reno metro market; LogistiCenter at Sauk Village in the Chicago metro area; LogistiCenter at Logan in Southern New Jersey; LogistiCourt at Portal Way in Portland, Oregon; and LogistiPort at Savannah in Georgia.

Atwell began his extensive career in commercial real estate in 1980 and has since developed 18,000,000 SF of commercial space, valued in excess of $1,260,000,000.  Most recently he served as Director of Development for the Western Region of First Industrial Realty Trust, Inc., a Chicago-based industrial real estate investment trust, where he was responsible for overseeing 5 million square feet of development and construction projects for the company and its corporate partners for the entire region west of Denver.  Prior to that, his leadership positions included Senior Vice President and Development Manager for Trammell Crow Company in Irvine, CA, where he was responsible for developing 4,000,000 SF of industrial real estate projects throughout southern and northern California over a three-year period.

He also served as Vice President of Robert Pattillo Properties, an Atlanta, GA-based national development and investment firm, and as Chief Financial Officer of the Weeks Corporation, a Norcross, GA-based southeast regional industrial and suburban-office developer that Atwell helped take public in 1997 (Weeks was later purchased by Duke Realty Corp.).

Atwell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and an MBA degree from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill).  He is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), CoreNet Global, and the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.  A native of Philadelphia, he currently lives in Reno.
