Kirk Olsen

Partner, Northwest Region

Kirk Olsen joined Dermody Properties in 2002, and is the Partner for the Northwest Region, based in Portland, Oregon.  He is responsible for land and building acquisitions, build-to-suit projects, development activities, asset management and dispositions in Oregon, Washington, Northern California, and Utah.  Additionally, he leads the company's third-party property management division in the Northwest.
 
Prior to relocating to Portland in 2007, Mr. Olsen worked in the company's headquarters as a Business Development and Leasing Manager. In these roles he was accountable for national new business development and corporate account management. Mr. Olsen led the team responsible for implementing a comprehensive program that enabled Dermody Properties to expand its development platform throughout the nation. He has negotiated over 125 lease transactions for the company and led its build-to-suit program for the western region. He also managed sales transactions of buildings and land, including a 300,000 square foot property disposition in Atlanta.
 
Before joining Dermody Properties, Mr. Olsen's broad experience included several managerial positions within the software industry in California, where he specialized in logistics management. He was also previously employed by International Paper in Tennessee, and worked as a geologist for an environmental consulting company in Virginia.
 
Mr. Olsen holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and a BA degree from Washington and Lee University, a liberal arts college in Lexington, Virginia, where he was a NCAA lacrosse athlete.
 
Mr. Olsen is an active member in the community and various real estate rganizations. He serves as an economic development policy expert for Portland’s Comprehensive Plan update and is on the advisory committee of Portland’s Bureau of Development Services.  He is the Treasurer of the Board of NAIOP Oregon and an active Developer Associate Member of SIOR.  Further, Mr. Olsen is a Board Member of the Dermody Properties Foundation and a Board Member of the Lake Oswego Youth Lacrosse Program.
 
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he and his family enjoy exploring, skiing, fishing and hiking.
